Michael Schubert is the winner of the Genetics Zone, after receiving the most votes from students! He wins £500 to spend on more science engagement activities.
Here’s what he had to say about his victory:
Thank you all so much for being part of the Genetics Zone and for voting for me! Participating in I’m a Scientist, Get Me Out of Here has been an amazing experience and I’ve loved the enthusiasm and energy of everyone who joined in. We had questions that were really challenging, questions that were fun to answer, and questions that were just plain funny. It’s also great to see how interested people are in what life is like as a scientist, what kinds of jobs you can do that involve science, and how science is part of your everyday life no matter where you live or what you do!
I hope everyone who joined us had a great time – and I hope you’ll remember that there really is something for everyone in science. There are lab scientists, field scientists, office scientists, sports scientists, science writers, science artists… if you can think of something you like, there’s probably a place for it in science.
Thanks so much to everyone who makes I’m a Scientist possible – the staff who keep everything running, the moderators who manage the chats, the funders who allow the program to happen, the scientists who share their knowledge and enthusiasm, teachers who encourage their students, and of course the students who get us excited about our work and the future of science. I hope we’ll see you again in future and maybe – one day – work with you on new ideas and new discoveries!
